Currency conversion

All prices in this store are displayed and charged in pounds sterling (GBP). If you are paying with a card issued outside the United Kingdom, you may be offered the option to pay in your own local currency instead. This page explains how that works.

What is Dynamic Currency Conversion?

Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) is a service that lets you see the cost of your order converted into your home currency before you confirm payment. Rather than being billed in pounds and letting your bank convert the amount later, you can choose to be charged directly in a currency you recognise.

How it works

If your card qualifies, the choice is presented during the payment step, after you have entered your card details. You will be shown:

  • the total in pounds sterling;
  • the equivalent total in your local currency; and
  • the exchange rate being applied.

The choice is entirely yours — if you would prefer, you can simply continue to pay in pounds sterling.

Why you might use it

  • You can see the exact amount in your own currency before you pay.
  • You avoid uncertainty about how much will appear on your statement.
  • The converted amount is confirmed at the time of purchase.

Things to keep in mind

The exchange rate offered through DCC is set by the payment provider and may differ from the rate your own bank would use. Your card issuer may also apply its own fees for overseas transactions regardless of the currency you choose. If you are unsure which option is best, we suggest checking your card provider's charges before deciding.
